going to see a new baby in the hospital is such a precious, intimate time.
i love capturing those sweet moments that are over before you know it.
after photographing mayson’s birth, i went home for a few hours and then headed back.
i had the privilege of being there when mayson met her big sister, raegan.
to see this little family all together for the first time was a precious, precious moment.
there are those experiences in your life that you truly will never forget.
getting to be a part of sweet mayson’s birth is definitely one of those.
i have three children of my own, but all three were born c-section. i’ve never actually seen a regular birth. so when my dear friend, jenna, asked me to photograph hers, i was excited and, admittedly, pretty nervous
. jenna was scheduled to be induced early in the morning, but due to lack of space in the hospital, wasn’t admitted until the afternoon. i got to the hospital around 8pm…. she was at a four, but i was not about to miss the birth waiting for her to be farther along! she stayed at a four for a long time… i had the privilege of hanging out with their family, trying to find the best sleeping spots in the hospital (which do not exist), so jenna + her hubby, jeff, could try to get some sleep. we continued to check in, and she continued to be at a four. then all of the sudden, around 2:30ish, we got the call that she was at a ten! we raced into the room where they were waiting for the doctor to arrive. jenna pushed for a bit, and within a few minutes, mayson was here! born at 3:04 in the morning, jenna was a rockstar- she handled labor like it was nothing! i have never experienced something like that and was totally overcome with emotion. getting to watch my friends see their daughter for the first time is a priceless memory.
when i left the hospital that morning, i just sat in my car for a few minutes, just thinking about how incredible God is to create life like this. i was overwhelmed by His amazing creativity and love for us.
mayson lynn, God created every sweet hair on your head, and knows every bit of you and loves you so very much. He gave you the most amazing mommy, daddy, and big sister. i look forward to watching you grow and being a part of your life for a long, long time. you will always have a very special place in my heart, little one.
